If you start this adventure in Cusco, you will travel around 4 hours to the region of Ocongate to the city of Tinki, where you'll then take the road to the community of Pacchanta. We stayed the night in one of the hostals, but the accomodations were not very good. I recommend camping or doing it in one day. If you camp, be prepared for a very cold night. It was definitely below freezing at night when we went (May 19 and 20 of 2022). We enjoyed the thermal hot waters and the food they prepared us was delicious. Our host, Clivar, was very kind and speaks English.
The hike was incredible! Very long and difficult due to the altitude, but overall very rewarding. Could not have done it without the horses for the kids. That was a must!
The drive back to Cusco is long and curvy. Make sure your driver doesn't drive too crazy or you'll get car sick.
