I have been using this CanFish CF1 underwater video for the past two months during my ice fishing adventures. I wanted to put it to use on multiple trips to see exactly how it worked in different conditions, various lighting and depths. I have fished with it in depths from 3 feet to 40 feet deep and all in between. I have fished with it on bright sunny days, cloudy days, snow storms and after the sun has gone down and the last light is fading.
I compiled all of my video experience with some of the highlights from the last two months to give you a better idea of what you expect if you are to buy this underwater camera for your experiences on the ice and beyond.
It really is super compact and is east to set up. It works best if you have something to set it on when you are on the ice. I put it on a small cooler that I have to keep things off the snow and slush. I use any of my older phones to watch the video live and control the recording of the footage.
My first use was in dim light and I wasn't really sure if it had a great picture quality. Turns out it was just the lightly and green water that I had to deal with in that lake. Once I put it to use in any other lake it had a great image. Especially when there was good to partially good lighting.
In this video I have captured Rainbow Trout, Yellow Perch, Whitefish, West Slope Cutthroat Trout, Kokanee, Suckers, and Arctic Grayling swimming below the ice.
