Many instructional designers and learning teams are tempted to add narration to their learning experiences. The intentions are often right: people think that narration will make the experience more engaging and accessible.
However, this is not always the case. In many cases, adding narration to a learning experience can add unneeded cognitive load and distract the learner.
In this quick video, I explain when to use narration and when to avoid it. I also include a quiz at the end so you can test yourself.
