Hora is derived from the word
Ahoratra, which means day and night. When we shed a syllable from beginning and end of the word Ahoratra, we get the word Hora.

Hora forms a part of Skandatraya of Vedanga Jyotish.
Skandatraya is Ganita, Hora and Samhita.

Hora determines the influence of planets on an individual at the moment, when any event is taking place.

Thus Hora can be linked with time, belonging to Planets.

There is a total of 24 Hora in a day, starting from Sunrise to the Sunrise of the next day.

Rule :-
The first Hora of the day, at the time of Sunrise, will be of that Planet which rules the entire day.

Application :-
We can use the Hora of Planets, to accomplish any certain work, which the planet resembles, with perfection, as on the particular Hora, the significance of the designated planet becomes strong.
