Remote Island Camping + Smallmouth Bass Catch & Cook (Ontario Wilderness Adventure)

We took the boat out for a remote island camping trip on Lake Nipissing, Ontario, and set up our tent deep in a pine forest with nothing but the essentials. This is real Ontario backcountry camping — no cabins, no power, no noise, just a quiet island, cold weather, and a full family adventure off the grid.

Before dark, I spent about an hour fishing and landed a solid smallmouth bass for a classic catch and cook right on the shoreline. We cooked the smallmouth, made cheeseburgers, heated up hot chocolate for the cold night, and explored the island before the temperatures dropped fast. Sleeping in the cold on a remote island definitely added to the challenge, but it made this trip unforgettable.
