What Happened to Steins;Gate 0 Elite?

Today marks the Steins;Gate 0 anime's 7th anniversary. And considering the occasion, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the whole saga surrounding Steins;Gate 0 Elite, a fully animated remake of the Steins;Gate 0 visual novel.

Steins;Gate 0 Elite was formally announced all the way back in January of 2020 at the Steins;Gate 10th Anniversary live event. But after over 5 years with little to no word on the project, I can't help but wonder... what happened to Steins;Gate 0 Elite?
