Short bio: Paula Sá was born on the 23rd of March 1979 in Porto, Portugal. By the age of 13 she enters the contest "Chuva de Estrelas", from the portuguese TV channel SIC, winning the 2nd place with the song "What's Up" by 4Non Blondes. Which then led her to record the album "Chuva de Estrelas a Vivo no Coliseu dos Recreios", including other artists such as Sara Tavares. At the age of 14 she was specially invited to be part of the weekly RTP tv show "Cabaret", and in 1996 makes her debut as an actress, in a rock opera, also recorded for RTP: "Camaleão Virtual Rock", both of them produced by Filipe La Féria. Also starred as a special guest in the Eurovision Song Contest tv show, directed by Filipe La Féria In 1998 she was part of the group Orquestra Lisboa Latina, with whom she recorded the album "Alma Latina" and went on a national tour. In the year 2000 she is part of the band Xanadu, recording an album and making an 1 year long all over the country tour. She then got into the cast of "Sábado à Noite" (RTP), to which followed 3 shows being made at Casino Solverde, in Algarve, this time as a solo artist, chosen by the producer Belinda King. At the time being, she also got in Escola Profissional de Teatro de Cascais, one of the best performing arts universities in Portugal, taking an acting course. By the end she was invited by the director Carlos Avilez to perform the monologue "O Pranto de Maria Parda" by Gil Vicente, in Teatro Experimental de Cascais. By 2004 she starts as Berta Cardoso, a popular fado singer, in "Amália", the musical about the life of Amália Rodrigues, at Teatro S. Luiz, by Filipe La Féria. She also works in Parque Mayer's Teatro Maria Vitória, in "A Revista é Liiiinda!" and "Já Viram Isto?!" (2006 and 2007) with huge names of the national artistic picture, such as Maria João Abreu and José Raposo. She was then directed over the years by renowed directors, such as Castro Guedes, Guillermo Heras, Fernando Gomes and Filipe La Féria, in companies like Teatro Politeama, Teatro Experimental de Cascais or Seiva Trupe, among others, doing plays like "House of the Lake" (Ernest Thompson), "Romeo and Juliet", Hamlet and "Macbeth" by Shakespeare. "The Three Sisters" (Tcheckov), "Bernarda Alba's Home" and "Blood Marriage" (García Lorca). "Troyans" (Eurípedes). "Piaf" (Pam Gems) as Marlene Dietrich , "Woyzeck" (Buchner), "Belkiss, Rainha do Sabá" (Eugénio Castro) "Hansel and Gretel" (Grimm), "Menina do Mar" (Sophia de Mello Breyner) and many others. In 2014 she stars in her own show at Teatro Experimental de Cascais, "Os Homens da Minha Vida", singing her heart away and portraying herself as an amusing jazz and soul solo singer. She is also part of the cast of "Portugal à Gargalhada", followed by "República das Bananas" where she does an astonishing rendition of Carmen Miranda. In 2016 she plays the role of Ursula in the Portuguese version of "The Little Mermaid". In 2017 she was part of the show "A Volta ao Mundo em 80 minutos" based on the tales by Júlio Verne. In 2018 she was cast along with Sónia Aragão and Victor Espadinha on the comedy "A Dinner Only For Two", original by Santiago Moncada, directed by Celso Cleto. In 2019 she was cast in "Sobreviventes", a play by Tito Lívio about domestic violence, directed by Carlos Avilez, and took part in "Pare, Escute e... Ria!", a Portuguese Review directed by Flávio Gil at Teatro Maria Vitória, Parque Mayer, Lisbon, Portugal.
And keeps doing music-hall shows, as well as being the lead singer of the rock band Skool Daze. Besides working as an artist, she has also directed courses as a voice and dramatic expression coach, and has also written several original themes in collaboration with Djs and musicians.
