Chris Claremont's run on X-Men was a milestone achievement for Marvel and superhero comics in general, spanning seventeen years and many stories. One of Claremont's more intriguing characters was Maddy Pryor, a red headed doppleganger of Jean Grey, who appeared shortly after her death in the Dark Phoenix Saga. When Jean returned from the dead, Maddy was revealed to be an evil clone of Jean, created by Mister Sinister. But, was that always the plan? Chris reveals his original intention for the character here.
This footage is taken from a roundtable conducted for the upcoming Sequart documentary, "Comics in Focus: Chris Claremont's X-Men." For the first time in over ten years, it reunited Claremont, writer Louise Simonson and editor Ann Nocenti, the creative team that ruled over X-Men in the 1980s.
