Vegan Fun, Fun Vegan. Today we're gonna turn one of the most famous Taiwanese street food "Pig's Blood Cake" into VEGAN way. No pig's blood, no rice, but the texture and flavour are just exactly the same. So Vegan, So Delicious! Let's dig in!

For marinating the tempeh, you will need:
240g tempeh
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Sweetener (I use Lakando)
1 Tablespoon Soy sauce
Ingredients for Cake Batter:
100g Raw Cashew
15g Dried Laver (seaweed)
80g Potato Starch
1 Tablespoon Sesame oil
2 Tablespoon Black Sesame Powder
1/2 Tablespoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon Chinese 5 spicies
180ml water
Instruction:
1. To make tempeh rice, crash tempeh into rice size. Mix all the marinated ingredients with tempeh rice and let it sit in fridge for an hour. Meanwhile, you can also soak the raw cashew in hot water for an hour as well.
2. To make the Cake batter, break the dried laver into small pieces and dump it into high-speed blender. Followed by all of the ingredients of cake batter except potato starch. Only add about 2 tablespoon in the blender and mix the rest of starch when combining cake batter and tempeh rice by hand. Otherwise, the blender can't work well as the batter is really thick. For the thick batter, using temper for help!
3. Find a stainless container and spray some sesame oil on its surface to avoid sticking of cake batter. Mix the tempeh rice, cake batter and rest of the potato starch. Pour the batter into the container and smear it evenly.
4. Steam the cake batter for about 20-25mins or insert the toothpick in the batter. If there's no batter stuck on the toothpick, then it's done! Let it cool down completely. Cut it into small piece and insert the popsicle stick into each tempeh cake.
5. The three important ingredients to make this Taiwanese street food irresistible is the sauce, coriander and crushed peanut. The tradition sauce is the mixture of soy sauce and spicy sauce, but you can choose your favorite one, like teriyaki sauce. Brush the tempeh cake with sauce first, then sprinkle some coriander and covered with crushed peanut. Then you're done! Enjoy your first bite with no fear as it's 100% plant-based food. The flavour and texture are exactly same as the one I ate in my childhood! Bon Appetite!
