My most thrilling alpine adventure yet! I set out on the legendary Routeburn Track and pushed beyond it on a wild off-track adventure to the remote Valley of the Trolls and icy Lake Wilson. While most people take 3 days and stay in huts, I skipped the pricey huts, camped for free off-trail, and completed the trek in just 2 days. It was an unforgettable journey through New Zealand’s South Island backcountry, surrounded by towering peaks, crystal lakes and rugged alpine terrain!
The weather was relentless with rain, snow and powerful winds hammering the trail, turning this into not just the most scenic trek I have ever done, but also one of the toughest. It was raw, wild and absolutely breathtaking from start to finish!
