The Severn Valley Railway 'Rail 200' Celebrations | 'Trains Through the Ages' - 6th July 2025

With 2025 of course being the 200th year of Railway's, events are and have been taking place across the country to mark the occasion. The Severn Valley Railway held their celebration over the weekend of the 5th & 6th of July.

Dubbed the 'Trains Through the Ages' gala, the event hosted a wide variety of motive power in action, alongside some coveted guests. Most notably was LMS Royal Scot class 46115 'Scots Guardsman' which was making a rare foray onto preserved line metals, let alone this being it's first visit to the SVR.

So from the SVR's fleet, 3 steam locos, 2 diesels and the DMU were in action, all portraying stages of the theme 'Trains Through the Ages'. Also at the engine house in Highley was some 2ft narrow gauge with locomotives 'Chaloner' and 'Holy War' providing demonstrations. Additionally, the 'Inspiration' Exhibition Train was marking the start of it's UK tour in conjunction with Rail 200 at Kidderminster station throughout the weekend.

This was a tidy and well put together event which had the line and the railway's in general well represented in all it's aspects. We now look forward to some of the major events in this commemorative year. Hope you enjoy!
