For the last 18 months, I've documented how several issues festered as we turned away our attention from daily battles with mental health, substance abuse and fentanyl poisonings to a global pandemic.
The pandemic served as the perfect veil, often overshadowing the hope, struggles, fights and loss surrounding those issues.
In one week, I'll debut the first episode of "In the Shadow of Pandemic," a short series of long-form stories lightly examining how California's lockdown impacted some of our most vulnerable people. The limited series spotlights some issues that have plagued the community and those empowered to battle them on our behalf.
