HOMEGROWN - The Story of Grassroots Powdersurfing

“Homegrown” is a glimpse into the journey & inspiration leading up to the creation of the first “powsurfers” and what it took to create world’s first Powsurf Company. A look into the dedication it took Jeremy Jensen to bring his dream to life by sharing his unique creations and his passion for riding them with the world using his own self taught skills and doing it all within his own means.

Jeremy's multi-layered drive as an inventor and artist and an athlete opened the minds of snow lovers everywhere, creating a market for his products and giving rise to a world-wide powsurf movement. Riders across the glove were inspired to free their feet and surf mountains just as the surfer rides the waves and the skateboarder surfs the sidewalks.. completely binding free, hands free and with limitless possibility.

Grassroots Powdersurfing was born in a tiny shack outside Jeremy’s home, with a $50 budget and a small stack of old 2x4s in the corner of that shack. After countless hours of work in the form of designing, building, & shaping his creations he poured countless more as the webmaster, photographer, cinematographer, editor, and producer of all powsurf media as well as the one man marketing department, shipping/recieving dept, and EVERYTHING else it takes to run a “snowboard” business.

This short film was created from an interview shot in the original Grassroots "shape shack" in the spring of 2014 and contains imagery from as recent as 2019 and dating back to 2005. Jeremy’s powsurfers, along with his films, photography & social media presence allows the world to re-imagine what can be done on snow covered mountains. Tapping into the earliest roots of snowboarding while bringing the contemporary realizations of possibility gained in skateboarding and surfing. He's re-ignited many people’s love of riding down snow covered mountains by bringing mountain riding back to it's purest form, creating feelings that would not only allow them to re-connect with why they started riding mountains to begin with but also open up possibilities that hey had never dreamed of.
