【ストーリー】

プロローグ
動乱の時代。
幼い頃から剣しか知らなかった青年は、やがて「剣鬼」と人々に呼ばれるようになった。
食う・寝る以外のすべてを鍛錬に捧げ、戦場を駆け、必ず戦果を挙げる。
無骨で口下手だが、不思議と仲間からは慕われ、いつしか王国を支える“西の剣鬼、東の剣聖”と並び称される存在となっていた。

ある日、聖堂の庭で剣を振るっていた剣鬼に、青い花を束ねた少女が声をかけた。
「あなた、剣は好き？」
「俺は剣だ。好きも嫌いもあるか」
その不器用な返しに、少女は小さく笑った。
それ以来、非番のたびに剣鬼は聖堂へ足を運ぶようになる。少女は戦とは無縁の穏やかな存在で、剣鬼の世界に初めて“静けさ”を教えてくれた。

本編｜
しかし平穏は長く続かない。
東方で大規模な侵攻が発生し、剣鬼の部隊は準備も整わぬまま前線へ投下された。
結果は壊滅。
圧倒的な敵将の力の前に、剣鬼でさえ歯が立たず、仲間は次々と倒れ、世界は灰と炎に染まっていった。

意識が遠のく刹那、蒼い帳をまとって少女が戦場へ現れた。
次の瞬間、彼女は人とは思えぬ剣速で敵軍へ突撃する。
矢が刺さり、傷を負ってもなお、一歩も退かず剣光だけが空を裂いた。
その姿は、剣鬼をも凌ぐ──いや、圧倒していた。

「……おまえは……？」
敵将を斬り伏せた少女は、ひとことだけ名乗る。

「剣聖」

剣鬼は叫んだ。
「なぜ黙っていた！」
しかし少女は答えず、ただ微笑んで、
「私は……あなたの剣が好き。さようなら」
それだけを残して、炎の中に消えていった。

クライマックス｜
戦が終わった後、剣鬼は真実を知る。

・自分が敗戦地の“身代わり”として送られたこと
・本来あそこに立つべきだったのは剣聖だったこと
・だが彼女は命令を破り、剣鬼を助けるために単騎で駆けつけたこと
・そして、彼女はその夜、すべての命を燃やし尽くしたこと

剣鬼は悟る。
自分の剣は、あの少女の剣に救われたこと。

エピローグ｜
それから四十余年。
幾度も戦があり、王国は変わり、剣鬼も老いた。
だがただひとつ変わらぬものがあった。

今も彼は、若き日に少女が立っていた聖堂の広間へ足を運ぶ。
青い花が揺れるたび、あの日と同じ光景が胸に蘇る。

剣鬼は小さく呟く。

「……愛してる。
　お前が見た俺の剣は、今もここにある」

静かな蒼の帳が、彼の背に落ちた

[Story]

Prologue
It was an age of unrest.
A young man who had known nothing but the sword since childhood eventually came to be called the Sword Demon.
He devoted everything—except eating and sleeping—to training. On the battlefield he always delivered results.
Though rough and taciturn, he was strangely well-liked by his comrades, and before long he was spoken of as one of the kingdom’s pillars: the Sword Demon of the West, alongside the Sword Saint of the East.

One day, while he was practicing in the garden of the sacred hall, a girl carrying a bundle of blue flowers approached him.
“Do you like the sword?”
“I am the sword. What room is there for like or dislike?”
His blunt reply made her give a small, gentle laugh.
After that day, the Sword Demon began visiting the sacred hall whenever he was off duty.
The girl, untouched by war, showed him a kind of “quiet” he had never known.

Main Story
But peace never lasts.
A massive invasion erupted in the East, and the Sword Demon’s unit was thrown into the front lines before they were ready.
The result was annihilation.
Even he could not stand against the overwhelming power of the enemy general.
Comrades fell one after another; the world drowned in ash and flame.

As consciousness slipped away, he saw her—draped in a shimmering blue veil—step onto the battlefield.
The next instant, she dashed forward with a speed no human should possess.
Arrows pierced her, wounds opened across her body, yet she does not retreat even a single step.
Blades of light tore through the air; her sword eclipsed even his—no, it utterly surpassed him.

“...Who are you…?”
Felling the enemy general, the girl gave only a single answer:

“Sword Saint.”

The Sword Demon roared,
“Why didn’t you tell me?!”
But she only smiled softly.

“I love your sword.
…Goodbye.”

And with that, she disappeared into the flames.

Climax
After the war ended, the Sword Demon learned the truth.

– He had been sent to the doomed front as a decoy.
– The one who should have stood there was the Sword Saint of the East.
– She disobeyed orders and rode alone to save him.
– And on that night, she burned away her entire life.

The Sword Demon finally understood:
His sword had been saved—redeemed—by hers.

Epilogue
More than forty years have passed.
Wars came and went, the kingdom changed, and even the Sword Demon has grown old.
But one thing has never changed.

He still visits the sacred hall where the girl once stood.
Whenever the blue flowers sway, the memory of that day returns with perfect clarity.

The old warrior murmurs:

“...I love you.
The sword you saw in me—
…it’s still here.”

A gentle curtain of blue descends across his back.

Her prayer slipped into the night as a wandering wind, and the world would someday learn—
that this was the beginning of all vampires,
and the first tear ever shed by one.
