Early Morning Walk on the Kiso River | Nagano, Japan

Nezame-no-toko Gorge is a collection of unique rocks along the Kiso River in Nagano, Japan. I stopped here early in the morning, unsure what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised to see such a stunning rock formation, a small shrine, and some unique rock art pieces along the river. I started walking a little after sunrise in the forest near the river. I found the trail didn't last too long by the river, but the rocks were dry and fairly easy to hop along. In the middle of the river, atop a large stone, is a small temple. It seems visitors stick coins in the rocks as an offering, or small pinecones. I didn't have any coins so I left a cone.

At times I needed to plan my route over the rocks, and keep a closer eye on my footing than usual, so the camerawork isn't as smooth as I would like. I also wanted to get the the farthest edge of the rocks, but it looked a bit too technical to attempt while carrying a camera. I really like these rocks, and I hope their majesty comes through on this walk. Thanks for watching : )
