How to make the Classic Ensaymada bakery style. Ensaymada is a sweet Filipino bread lathered in butter and dipped in sugar.
Here's what you'll need:
1 cup warm milk (250ml)
1 whole
3/4 tbsps sugar )
1 tbsp instant yeast (6g)
3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter (55g)
Around 1/4 cup softened butter margarine for brushing
sugar for topping
1. In a bowl mix together milk, egg, salt, sugar and instant yeast. Add flour and salt.Mix until the dough forms. Add butter, mix until fully absorbed.
2. Transfer to a floured counter. Knead until smooth and elastic. Around 8 minutes. Smooth into a ball and coat with oil. Place in a bowl and cover for 45-50 minutes or until doubled in size.
3. Punch the dough to release gas. Divide the dough bench and rest for 10 minutes.
4. Roll out and flatten each dough ball lengthwise. Roll tightly into a log. Place in a lined baking sheet pan and cover for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven for 15 minutes at 180C/350F. Brush risen ensaymada with milk and bake for 20-25 minutes or until light golden.
6. Let it cool down for 10 minutes. Then brush each with softened butter. Dredge in granulated sugar.
7. Serve and enjoy!
