GHOST TOWN - Romagnano al Monte (SA)

Un autentico viaggio nel tempo, alla scoperta di un antico borgo arroccato su uno sperone di roccia a circa 650 metri di altezza, distrutto dal terremoto dell'Irpinia del 1980 e da allora definitivamente abbandonato. La visita del paese fantasma di Romagnano al Monte, in provincia di Salerno, ci riserva una finestra temporale sulla sua comunità, prevalentemente contadina, che quì abitava un tempo. Gli edifici distrutti, la meravigliosa piazza con la chiesa abbandonata e le case pericolanti con tutti i più svariati oggetti che si possono trovare a loro interno, ci raccontano un pò della vita che si consumava in questo luogo che oggi appare tetro e senza tempo e perciò così magico e suggestivo.

An authentic journey through time, to discover an ancient village perched on a spur of rock about 650 meters high, destroyed by the 1980 Irpinia earthquake and since then definitively abandoned. The visit to the ghost town of Romagnano al Monte, in the province of Salerno, reserves us a window of time on its community, mainly peasant, who once lived here. The destroyed buildings, the wonderful square with the abandoned church and the crumbling houses with all the various objects that can be found inside, tell us a little about the life that was consumed in this place that today appears bleak and timeless and therefore so magical and evocative.
