Introduction
In some cultures, some people drink wine for health reasons. Does the Bible permit drinking wine for health reasons? Some scriptures seem to allow a little wine like in 1 Timothy 4:33 and 1 Timothy 3:8.

•The word wine in Scripture refers generically to the juice from the grape. As soon as you crush the grape and get the juice out, fermentation begins.
•Wine could mean fresh juice or fermented juice. New wine, or wine in the cluster (Isaiah 65:8)
•Ancient times have methods that arrest the process of keeping wine for a long time.
•When they serve wine, they usually dilute it with water. Even if it is fermented, it would not be strongly fermented and diluted with 2-3 times of water. It would be hard to be intoxicated.
•Proverbs provides strong warning to drinking alcoholic beverages.
•In the New Testament, Jesus turned water into wine which could have been fresh juice.
•Timothy was given wine (probably diluted and not as strong wine) for sanitary purposes.
•There is nothing in the New Testament that advocates drinking intoxicating beverages.
•Any strongly intoxicating drink would be against the teaching of the New Testament. (Read Ephesians 5:20)
•Christian liberty cannot be used to cause a stumbling block to someone else.
•Do not use Christian liberty to grant something to have power over you (See 1 Corinthians 6:12)
