Rarest Robert Bouchet? 1958 No. 62
Just Before Ida Presti’s Guitar
We are proud to present one of the rarest and most historically important guitars ever featured on Fonzo Selection: Robert Bouchet 1958 No. 62, built with a Spruce top and Brazilian rosewood.
Robert Bouchet built only 154 guitars in his lifetime, making each instrument exceptionally rare and highly sought after. But this guitar is even more extraordinary. It comes from Bouchet’s golden period right alongside masterpieces owned by great players such as Alexander Lagoya (1959 Bouchet) and Ida Presti’s 1958 No. 63, which is now preserved in the Paris Museum.
Bouchet No. 62, the guitar played in this video, is considered the sister guitar to Ida Presti’s Bouchet and there is a real possibility that Presti herself played this very instrument before receiving her own.
Beyond the historical significance, this guitar is in remarkable original condition:
• No cracks
• No repairs
• Original finish
• Original tuning machines
• Even the original Bouchet case
This guitar is also featured in the new Bouchet book by Alberto Martinez, adding yet another layer of rarity and prestige.
In the video, Ekachai Jearakul performs Bach’s BWV 998 Prelude, showcasing the pure, clean, and breathtaking voice of this extraordinary musical instrument.
