Tom Davies Bespoke eyewear was founded by Tom Davies in 2002 in West London. Aside from the interesting styles that often combine different materials, he founded a bespoke eye wear service that allows his glasses to be tailored to the fit and style of the client, similar to getting a tailor-made suit. Dozens of measurements are taken of the head, eyes, and nose, and the frames are tailored to include a custom bridge width, temple length and height, custom nose pads, custom materials, colors, shapes, and the like. Upon completion, the customer’s name is engraved on the temple arm.

Some of the materials Tom Davies incorporates into his eyewear include cotton acetate, titanium, natural horn and various precious metals. In 2018, Tom Davies became the first eyewear brand to create sunglasses that feature rhodium coated lenses.

Tom Davies collaborated in 2015 with fashion designer Lulu Liu for a series of signature frames. In 2018, Tom Davies collaborated with fashion designer Yang Li for a runway show for Paris Fashion week.

These Tom Davies 729’s in crystal tobacco acetate have a titanium inlay with a matte gun-metal finish (color code 2156). They feature a keyhole bridge, intricate craftsmanship on the titanium core wire where the detailed coining work depicting a Navy ship tossed among the waves are easily visible through the translucent brown temples. This is to commemorate Tom Davies British Navy heritage. They also feature sturdy 5-barrel silver hinges. A unique feature of these frames, and what sets Tom Davies apart from other eyewear designers, is the titanium front piece that is layered onto the thick chunky cotton acetate frame and attached with 3 screws on the back of the frame. Fastening composite pieces together rather than gluing is a more expensive and labor-intensive process. So in this case, we have a titanium front piece done in matte dark brown fused onto a crystal tobacco cotton acetate frame.

To this I added a 30% almond tint that fades into a 30% gold tint at the bottom. This is considered an indoor tint, and compliments the brown frames well. I made these as computer glasses, so they feature a single vision IOT Endless lens, which also has a blue light filter. I did not do a transitions lens in this one, since I have no intention of wearing these glasses outside.

Tom Davies designed and manufactured all of the eyewear in The Matrix Resurrections for Neo, Trinity and Morpheus. The glasses Henry Cavill wears as Clark Kent in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice were also made by Tom Davies. Henry Cavill found that most glasses sat too high on his face because he has a high bridge, so Tom Davies was able to create bespoke glasses for him. Tom Davies also made the glasses for Brad Pitt’s character Allied. Angelina Jolie wore a pair of limited edition Tom Davies frames in the movie The Tourist. He also designed the glasses worn by Academy Award-winning actresses Emma Stone and Emma Thompson in Disney film Cruella. Ed Sheeran and Heston Blumenthal’s iconic spectacles are both bespoke pairs made by Tom Davies. Other celebrities who have worn Tom Davies glasses include Carrie Fisher, Kristen Stewart, Matthew Bellamy and Rowan Atkinson.
