Today I drive my BK1 Genesis Coupe with its new BK2 short-block engine! The bk2 engine has an 11.5:1 compression ratio which is higher than the stock bk1 10.4:1 compression ratio. The car will adjust ignition timing to prevent engine knock from pre-detonation as long as you run 91 or 93 octane fuel. The car will be ok to drive but might be a little underpowered until it gets tuned.
Performance shops told me its never been done before and they were skeptical that it would work but I took a chance and it looks like I have the first bk1 genesis coupe with a swapped bk2 shortblock in the world!
