I purchased a discounted bottle of iron(II) chloride (ferrous chloride) and when it arrived, I discovered it was seriously old and seriously oxidized. I found that a tedious process could be used to recover some of the iron(II) chloride, but I wasn't really interested in undertaking that process. Now that I'm trying to clean up the storage room, I decided to just throw this bottle away. Since I have a hard time letting go, I thought I'd see if I could come up with a better procedure to recover the chemical hidden inside. If I could just get one gram, it would be more than I expect!
