Recently, I travelled nearly 100 kilometres just to experience the legendary Eluru Appala Raju Military Hotel, a place that truly lives up to its name and reputation.
This hotel is extremely famous for its mass-style non-vegetarian curries, served in tiny portions on even tinier plates, which is part of its unique old-school charm.

If you’re a pure non-veg lover, this place is heaven. The menu is loaded with almost every non-vegetarian item you can imagine — mutton, chicken, fish, prawns, crab, bird curry, and many more. On the other hand, vegetarians please note: this is not the place for you, as the veg options are very limited — mainly dal rice and rasam.

Coming to what I tried:
Mutton curry – Nice and decent, cooked well with traditional flavors.
Chicken fry – Honestly, not very satisfying compared to the hype.
Prawns curry – Absolutely delicious and the best dish of the meal for me.
Small egg curry – This was a surprise! Tiny eggs cooked in a flavorful gravy; it was my first time trying this, and I really liked it.
One of the most fascinating things about this place is its 100+ years of history. The ambience takes you back in time — old wooden benches, simple tables, no fancy setup, just pure authenticity. The hotel is always packed with mass crowd and old benchers, giving it a raw, rustic, and powerful vibe that matches its food perfectly.

Overall, Appala Raju Military Hotel is not about luxury or presentation — it’s about tradition, bold flavors, and a true mass non-veg experience. If you love authentic Andhra-style non-veg curries and don’t mind basic seating, this place is definitely worth the long journey.
