This is how I like to land my Kitesurfing, kite when I am by myself using your leash as an anchor is a good method to understand, as it caters for a lot of variance in the surroundings, conditions and environment. This is one of the 4 methods I like to use to self land a kite... and in my mind, it's important to know and understand all 4 for all situations you may face.

How to self-land kitesurfing using your leash as an anchor
1. Find a strong anchor point
2. Rest kite on the ground
3. Detach leash from harness
4. Wrap leash around anchor and back to itself
5. Detach leash from safety line on bar and re attach to chicken loop
6. Slowly allow tension on leash and anchor
7. Walk to kite and secure
