Organic vs Biodynamic: Which One Should You Choose?

🌱 What's the difference between organic and biodynamic farming?
It's one of the most common questions we get at Organic Fix and the answer reveals something beautiful about regenerative agriculture.

Both organic and biodynamic farming reject synthetic chemicals completely. Both prioritise soil health, sustainability, and ethical practices. But they come from slightly different philosophies.

Organic farming focuses on what you don't use (no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, GMOs, or artificial fertilizers) and what you do prioritise (soil health, animal welfare, environmental sustainability). In Australia, organic farmers follow strict national standards and are independently audited every year.

Biodynamic farming embraces all of that and goes further. Based on Rudolf Steiner's teachings from the 1900s, it treats the farm as a living organism. Biodynamic farmers use specially prepared natural remedies, work with lunar and cosmic cycles, and view every element of the farm as interconnected.

Many describe biodynamic as "premium organic"—it adds a holistic, spiritual dimension to chemical free farming.
