Why Are Western Universities Sympathetic to Islam against Hinduism ? - Dr. Koenraad Elst

In this Talk, Dr. Elst describes that the “Western Universities are sympathetic to Islam” because contemporary west has anti-Christian sentiments. This in turn led to the respectful and tolerant attitude towards other religions. However, according to Dr. Elst, situation in India is entirely different from the west.

In India, the concept of Monotheism and Abrahamic religions is completely misunderstood by Hindus. Dr. Elst specified the striking differences between “Monotheism, Henotheism, Abrahamism”. Even the term “Sematic” is also misunderstood in India. Sematic is a language group and it is not a reference to any religion.

The incorrect notion is that the Muslims, Christians and Jews are worshiping the same God. This notion is based on wrong “ideological evolution”. Dr. Elst believes that all these three religions are different from each other. Usually, the later religion will have a claim over the older religion.

For Example, Christians claim that they are similar to the Jews and Jesus was a Jew. Jews have rejected this claim. Muslims lined Muhammad along with Jewish Prophets and Jesus the Messiah. However, both Jews and Christians rejected their claim. So Dr. Elst believes that Hindus should use the correct phrase “Prophetic Monotheism” to address the context of their problems.
