However, they have now left some disagreements behind. A rising external power in the Middle East such as China was also instrumental in their normalization. Normalization was achieved after difficult negotiations. The talks continued for two years. After the peace, the parties should not be expected to have friendly relations all of a sudden. There are still deep cracks in terms of trust. Dozens of issues that need to be resolved remain on the table. For example, Salman had signaled that they could respond if Iran continued to pose a military threat to them. However, there is currently an Israel that is pursuing a very expansionist policy in the region. It is increasing its aggression day by day, confident that it will not be held accountable. Other countries are shaping their policies according to its actions. For example, we can witness the rapprochement of arch-enemies. Iran and Saudi Arabia are preparing themselves for an environment where new and powerful actors are playing for leadership in the world against the questionable legitimacy of the West. Normalizations are also a part of this. There is no doubt that Israel is the only country that openly objects to the peaceful environment in the region. The possibility that it could sabotage these efforts should also be taken into consideration. Time will show whether Tehran and Riyadh can provide security in the region in harmony, leaving the US aside.
