Foldable and Rollable Interlaced Structure for Deployable Robotic System

We present an interlaced, corrugated foldable structure that combines high stiffness when deployed with smooth rollable storage when folded. By weaving parallel strips into an origami-like interlaced design, the structure achieves both localized flexibility and strong mutual constraints. Using this approach, we built deployable robots with a 1.6 m extendable arm and a tetrahedral frame capable of supporting meter-scale 3D printing.
