Pre-match press conference with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ahead of Manchester United v Manchester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Guardiola is asked about player availability, including Oscar Bobb and others returning from international duty, and says final decisions will be taken after training.

He reflects on the incredible scoring record of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden against United and says he simply expects them to “continue and play tomorrow”.

He speaks frankly about his longevity at City, insisting that results are the only secret to staying in the job, that if you do not win you are sacked, and that at another club he might not have survived a poor three month spell last season.

He praises the patience of the Manchester City hierarchy and the extraordinary numbers and titles the team has delivered over the years.

Guardiola admits defensive injuries to John Stones, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol make it a difficult situation over a long period, but hopes to have players back soon and trusts those who will play.

He explains how he prepares for Michael Carrick’s United with limited reference points, focusing more on City’s own game, and downplays debates about formations, saying both back fours and back fives can work if the team functions well.

Guardiola also describes Carrick as an extraordinary holding midfielder from his playing days and, when asked about new forward Antoine Semenyo scoring three goals in two games, urges patience and says he will be judged over four to six years, not two matches.
