Install 700x50 Fenders on your Evil Chamois Hagar Gravel Bike

In this video, I show you how to install the larger size 700 x 50c fenders on your Evil Chamois Hagar gravel bike.

There is some initial customization needed before the fender install. On the rear fender, you will need to drill a hole to mount the fender at the seat tube. Also to mount the fenders with a 700 x 50 tire, you will need to cut the fenders away at the seat stay with a Dremel tool. If you are using 700 x 40 tires and fenders, there will be no trimming of the fender needed.

On the front fender, you will need to remove the factory for mounting bracket and rivets. You can then use one of the rivet holes to mount the fender to the underside of the fork. The rest of the front fender mounting is standard.

I like to use rubber washers that I purchased at my local Ace Hardware store to go between the fender and my carbon frame and all mounting locations. This helps keep the fenders quiet and it adds protection for your frame.

The fender used in this video is the planet bike Cascadia ALX 700 x 65 Fender. I’ve used these for many seasons now and they have worked great. The rivets are starting to come loose and they are starting to make a bit of noise. I’m thinking of breaking out the hot glue gun to help take up the gap between the rivet brackets, and the fender itself to get rid of the noise.
