It's revealed that Brahne is being manipulated by a villain named Kuja, who is working with a powerful entity called Garland to achieve their own sinister goals. As the group travels across the world of Gaia, they uncover a deeper conspiracy involving the fusion of their planet with another called Terra, and the story explores themes of life, death, and identity.
