Myung Mi Kim is James H. McNulty Chair of English at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Kim is the author of Penury, Commons, River Antes, DURA, The Bounty, and Under Flag, winner of The Multicultural Publisher’s Exchange Award of Merit. Her most recent book, Civil Bound, appeared from Omnidawn Publishing. She has been widely anthologized in collections such as Moving Borders: Three Decades of Innovative Writing by Women, Premonitions: Kaya Anthology of New Asian North American Poetry, and American Poets in the 21st Century: The New Poetics. Recipient of fellowships and honors from the Fund for Poetry, the Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Gertrude Stein Awards in Innovative North American Poetry, and the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activity, Kim co-edited the volume Poetics and Precarity.
The ENCLAVE Series began in March 2020, created and curated by poets and professors Jeanne Heuving and Rae Armantrout. The series takes place online as a Zoom gathering each week. The intent is to present major contemporary innovative poets, including writers who have created major works that have helped redefine the last 50 years (and continuing) of poetry in North America. The first three poets reading in the series are Lyn Hejinian, Jerome Rothenberg, and Tyrone Williams. In part, the series is a creative response to the Coronavirus pandemic, offering audiences a live poetry event they may experience from their desktop or laptop computers, or from their cell phones.
