Trusses! Spreading out the trusses for our single-slope skillion roof.

We are still pushing to get this roof on before snow!

With our sill plates complete we can spread out and install our trusses. We have never done this before or really seen it done so we just figure it out as we go. The hardest part is to keep the bundle of trusses secure while slowly removing one at a time from the bundle.

There are a lot of names for the flat sloped style of roof we are doing, some call it single-slope or monopitch or skillion roof, its also sometimes called a shed roof. Its one of the simplest and most economical roof designs and it also optimizes space for solar panels, since our house will be all solar power and close to net zero.

For a long time, Terry and I have been dreaming of a simpler life for ourselves- an off-grid cabin, wilderness, gardening, livestock, homesteading and lots of adventures.
