Transperth C-Series Operating on the Mandurah & Joondalup Lines Part 1 (Canning Bridge - Mandurah)

Monday the 8th of April saw the first day of the C-Series operating on the Mandurah and Joondalup Lines, although it came with a lot of twists...

You see, train drivers at Mandurah depot had not yet been trained on the new railcars, so they were not being put into normal scheduled trips on the network. However, in order to fulfil the promise of operating them from April, the C-Series was running as unscheduled trips in between the normal services on the network, picking up passengers while driver training at the same time. The schedule was departing from Mandurah at 4:52AM and then operating all stations to Perth, before operating a W pattern to Whitfords terminating at 6:08AM. The train then returns to Perth departing Whitfords at 6:22AM and runs all the way back to Mandurah where it terminates at 7:36AM. The train did not operate at any other times during the day, which was quite silly considering how they were advertising it as starting normal public operations now...

As a result of the drivers being trained while in passenger service, there were a few mistakes made including harsh braking and wrong releasing of the doors which meant that they didn't open for a while at several stations.

This video features a few clips when I first boarded the C-Series and as it travels up the Joondalup Line. Then, the whole journey from Canning Bridge to Mandurah is recorded from a cool angle on top of the seats with minimal talking to allow all the aspects of the train's sounds to be observed. This is in addition to the Joondalup Line journey that was recorded yesterday on the inaugural service from Whitfords. The train did come to Butler in passenger service until the Yanchep Rail Extension opening.
