The drummer snapped his spine in two,
But still he kept a steady cue,
The bodhrán’s thump was joined anew,
By vertebrae on stew!

“Bring me the femur, the tibia too!
The pelvis can play the spoons, it’s true!

As long as they don’t shatter!”

Ra-da-da-da-da-dum
Now every lad’s in pieces strewn,
The floor’s a jigsaw under moon,
I laugh and sing a ragged tune,
And sweep the ribcage broom.

I raise my glass, I lead the cheer,
The tavern shakes with clatter clear,
If bones won’t bounce, then who needs gear?
We’ll waltz in shards of cheer!
