I bought an old European-style sliding table saw, an SCM MiniMax SC3, roughly 30 years old. If I get a chance I want to ask someone at SCM (maybe @SamBlasco ?) if they can give me a more specific date.
This is a “short stroke sliderl, apparently with enough sliding range to crosscut a full 4x8 sheet but not enough to rip (unless I do it the conventional way using the rip fence). But this is my first experience with a slider, and the price was right. I did stare at some listings for full stroke machines, but that seemed like a whole different level of thing. Those things are huge.
The wagon on this machine is cast iron (or steel?), whereas the later models have an aluminum wagon with a T slot.
This machine came with a 3 HP single phase Baldor motor and a Biesemeyer rip fence, both of which I found surprising on an Italian-made saw.
And yes, I’m keeping the cabinet saw.
