His roles included serving as a Company Officer at Stations 1 and 16 and as the Maintenance and Supply Officer within Administrative Services. Greg's legacy continues through his children, with two of them proudly following in his footsteps as employees of the SFD.
Greg was known for his love of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, and camping. He cherished family camping trips to Cherrystone Campground and Frontier Town, where he created countless memories with his loved ones. Greg loved sports and was known as a long-time, faithful fan of the Redskins. His daily routine and steadfast fortitude will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Yvonne F. (Massey) Hoppes, who he married on December 7, 1979; his children, Brandon Hoppes and wife Katie, Matthew Hoppes and Megan Baker; and his cherished grandchildren, Wyatt Allen Hoppes, Brooks Everett Hoppes, Forest Matthew Hoppes, Ryan Alese Hoppes, Isaac James Baker, Gavin Joseph Baker, and Lillie Belle Baker.
