Maulana Showkat Hussein Keng Qadiri takes us through the history of the Rahbab Sahab Shrine in Old Srinagar where he traces the history of Kashmir's unsung saints and merchants that paved the way for Islam and Shariah consciousness among Kashmiris.
The shrine is named after a pious Sufi of the Qadirriya Order, Shaykh Abdul Raheem Qadiri, also known as Rah Baba Sahab.
The Qadiriyya Order, a prominent Sufi order founded by Shaykh Sayyid Abdul Qadir Gilani in the 12th century, made its way to Kashmir in the late 15th or early 16th century. The order's influence grew significantly in the region, with notable figures like the 16th-century scholars and Sufi master Shaykh Sayyid Ismail Shami who laid the foundation of the Qadirriya order in Kashmir.
