In Part 2 of our northbound sailing journey through Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, we’re reminded why this cruising ground is so special. We begin at Los Muertos, just south of La Paz, where the turquoise crystal-clear waters tempt us in for a refreshing snorkel. Although the bay is still a little too cool for long swims, the natural beauty makes up for it. On shore, we sample delicious local cuisine at Restaurant 1535 and explore the beach and rocky shore.
From there, we sail to La Paz for a quick provisioning stop before dropping anchor at Bahia Salinita on Isla Espiritu Santo. The next leg takes us to the stunning Isla San Francisco, where westerly winds keep us tranquilly tucked on the south east side. A hike along the island’s ridgeline rewards us with panoramic views of the surrounding aquamarine waters—truly breathtaking.
Taking advantage of favorable winds, we head to Evaristo, where we reunite with cruising friends, Ed and Finese on Good Day. Together, we share an evening meal, swap stories, and prepare to buddy-boat to our next destination: Agua Verde.
Join us for this leg of our journey as we continue to experience the magic, community, and adventure of sailing the Sea of Cortez.
