In this episode of the LPS Toddcast, Superintendent Todd Lambert and cohost, CFO Jonathan Levesque, lead an important conversation about supporting student mental health and well-being across the district.
Joining the discussion is Nate Thompson, LPS Director of Social, Emotional, and Behavior Services, and Kira, a junior at Arapahoe High School and member of the SPEAK student group. Together, they explore the growing need for accessible mental health support, the impact of youth voice in shaping school culture, and how partnerships between students and staff can make a real difference.
Listeners will hear firsthand about the work being done in LPS to reduce stigma, elevate awareness, and build strong mental health supports for students—from classroom-based initiatives like the Mental Notes curriculum for all 6th and 9th graders, to student-led advocacy and peer-driven programs like SPEAK, which stands for Students Promoting Emotional Awareness and Kindness.
