Designed by Augustus Pugin (Big Ben architect) in 1841-42 is one of the only three Pugin churches in London.
Augustus designed the church as a whole, and oversaw the building of the nave and aisles, the east window, and the Lady Chapel. He also designed the original part of the presbytery and the sacristy, and the passage connecting the two.

Edward designed the original two-storey parish school. His work is still the core of the community centre now named Pugin Place, though it has been extended at both front and rear.

Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812 –1852) was an English architect, designer, artist and critic who is principally remembered for his pioneering role in the Gothic Revival style of architecture.

His work culminated in designing the interior of the Palace of Westminster and its iconic clock tower, later renamed the Elizabeth Tower, which houses the bell known as Big Ben.

Pugin designed many churches in England, and some in Ireland and Australia.

Woolwich is a district in southeast London, England, within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The district's location on the River Thames led to its status as an important naval, military and industrial area; a role that was maintained throughout the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and most of the 20th century.
After several decades of economic hardship and social deprivation, the area is now subject to several large-scale urban renewal projects.
