How I "catch my floats" when doing stranded colorwork! WHY catch floats?
This technique is utilized IF: you are going to use one color over 5 (or more) stitches at a time. It creates a tidier "wrong side" & prevents floats from being troublesome later (catching on hair clips, fingers, ect.).
.
.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1: I typically alternate where I catch my floats. (i.e. catch on the 4th stitch two rounds, catch on the 3rd next two, ect.)
2: ALWAYS remember to gently stretch your working stitches so that the floats will mimick how the hat will naturally stretch while worn. Having too tight of floats makes the colorwork scrunch, having too loose can make holes in your color-changes.
.
.
As always, I hope this is useful! See my YouTube Channel for my part 1 basic colorwork 'tutorial'. & link below for dozens of colorwork patterns - both knit & crochet!
