Welcome to Learn with Daldaroc! Join me on an exciting crafting journey where we turn everyday household items into stunning Cricut creations. Today, we’ll transform an old vase into a beautiful personalized piece with a vinyl decal.
Step 1: Measure Your Vase
First, measure your vase to know how big your decal should be. Mine is about 4.5 cm wide and 16 cm tall.
Step 2: Create Your Text in Cricut Design Space
Start by clicking on the text box.
Select your font—Cricut offers both free and paid options. You can also choose from fonts installed on your computer.
Type in your message. I’m going with, “God makes everything beautiful in His time.”
Adjust the size to fit your vase measurements—I'll set my width to 16 cm.
Step 3: Add Decorative Images
To add images like flowers:
Click on "Images" and search for "flower."
Use the filter to find free options if you're not subscribed to Cricut Access.
Select your design and resize it as needed. You can duplicate elements by right-clicking and selecting "Duplicate."
Step 4: Prepare for Cutting
Choose Cricut Smart Vinyl if you're working without a mat.
Select “Smart Vinyl – Without Mat” as your material.
Click “Continue,” and the machine will prepare to make two cuts—first the flowers, then the text.
Step 5: Cutting and Transferring
The Cricut Maker takes around 2-3 minutes for this project. I had to use both hands to remove the vinyl since I'm using Smart Vinyl without a mat.
Important: Ensure all letters transfer onto the transfer paper before lifting it from the backing. If any letters are left behind, carefully transfer them, but keep alignment in mind.
Step 6: Apply the Vinyl
Clean your vase with rubbing alcohol to make sure the vinyl sticks well. Then, position and press your decal onto the vase.
And that’s it—your stunning, customized vase is ready!
