এক ব্রাহ্মণ বৌ-এর উপর রাগ করে বাড়ি ছেড়ে চলে এসেছে এক গভীর জঙ্গলে। সেই জঙ্গলে বাস ভূত-পেত্নী-ব্রহ্মদৈত্যের। ব্রাহ্মণকে পেয়ে ভূতেদের দল ঘিরে ধরলো। তাদের আনন্দ-উচ্ছ্বাসের মধ্যেই উপস্থিত তাদের নেতা ব্রহ্মদৈত্য। বিনা অনুমতিতে প্রবেশের জন্য শাস্তি হিসেবে মৃত্যুদণ্ড হলো ব্রাহ্মণের। কিন্তু পরে সে ব্রাহ্মণ জানতে পেরে ব্রাহ্মণকে মারলে ব্রহ্মহত্যার অপরাধ হবে বুঝে ব্রাহ্মণকে মুক্তি দিলো। ব্রাহ্মণের দুঃখের কথা শুনে ব্রহ্মদৈত্য তাকে তার থলে উপহার দিলো। এই থলের কাছে যখন যে খাবার চাইবে তখনি সেই খাবার উপস্থিত হবে। ব্রাহ্মণ বাড়ি ফেরার পথে তার থলে চুরি হয়ে গেলো। ব্রাহ্মণ কি সেই থলে ফিরে পাবে?

A Brahmin, angry with his wife, left his house and went to a deep forest. In that forest lived the ghost-wife-Brahma Daitya. On finding the Brahmin, a group of ghosts surrounded him. Their leader Brahmadaitya was present in their joy and excitement. The Brahmin was sentenced to death as punishment for entering without permission. But later, when the Brahmin came to know that killing the Brahmin would be the crime of Brahmanicide, he released the Brahmin. Hearing the Brahmin's sorrow, Brahmadaitya gifted him his bag. Whenever he asked for food near this bag, that food would be available. On the way back home, the Brahmin's bag was stolen. Will the Brahmin get the bag back?
