The shockwiz is a brilliant tool for tuning mountain bike suspension, however the device relies on receiving quality data to give the rider quality recommendations.
Here are some things to avoid:
1) Running too much shock pressure
Listen to what pressure the shockwiz recommends, not what pressure you think you need.
2) Not resetting the device after every setting change
You have to re-calibrate or start new session after changing any fork setting!
3) Incorrect calibration with calibration wizard
follow the instructions, exactly.
4-5) Losing seal on the shockwiz to fork
Keep it snug and connected to keep the data coming in.
6) Losing calibration throughout a ride
You have to monitor this; it could be due to a loss of seal, incorrect calibration wizard to start with, or change in baseline pressure. remember shock travel should be +/-3%, if not? Re-calibrate!
7) Too much adjustment
You want to optimise the tune to your normal riding conditions, trails and riding style. Ride trail features consistent with this- and only adjust when tuning score is more than 50% (Preferably more- more data= a more informed tune).
Adjusting after repeated strikes at that one big drop to flat to see what will happen will not result in a good "everyday" tune... trust me.
8) Negative pressure lock
let it down slow, pump up the shock. calibrate again.
