Charged with a crime and you miss your court date, what happens?
If you miss your court date, the court must wait 48 hours before issuing a bench warrant to allow you to voluntarily appear. There are exceptions to this rule. For instance, if you are charged with domestic violence or an assaultive offense the rule does not apply and the court could issue a warrant right away.
If you miss a court date, the best thing to do is get back to the court as soon as possible. Voluntarily appearing will weigh in your favor when it comes to setting a bond. If the police have to drag you into court it will not look good for you.
