With 35 years of experience, she has cast for top shows like “Phantom of the Opera,” “Jersey Boys,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” "Ain’t Too Proud” and now “Six”. Rubin brings you into the audition process, describing what casting directors are looking for, and what actors must show to rise above the rest. “Not every actor is the right person to fill the particular story you are telling”, says Rubin. What does she say to “crestfallen” actors who are not cast in a show? What’s the best way to prepare for an audition, and what happens if the actor doesn’t audition well? Rubin also talks about today’s hot button issues, like inclusivity and diversity, and their role in casting.
