“The Lord replied, ‘If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to his
mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it would obey you.’”
Luke 17:6
OUR CHURCH AT WORSHIP - October 5, 2025 - World Communion Sunday
(0:00) PRELUDE “Brahms/Haydn Variations” – Brahms
Althea Waites
(0:48) CALL TO WORSHIP - adapted from Psalm 137
Leader: By the rivers of Babylon, O Lord, your people sat down and wept.
People: We remembered how you led us and loved us in the land you provided.
Leader: We were far from home – held captive by those who mocked you.
People: We could not sing our songs of joy and hope.
Leader: At the time we were filled with thoughts of anger and revenge.
People: Yet your love remained steadfast, and you led us home again.
(2:01) HYMN - “Standing on the Promises”
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
(Refrain) Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
(Refrain)
(4:04) PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND RENEWAL
Unison: Dear God, for the day you have given us, with all its possibilities, we thank you.
For your gifts of life and love, of labor and rest, we praise you. Forgive us that too often
we fail to appreciate the goodness which surrounds us; that we feel alone when there are many
who love us; that we despair when your strength is near at hand. Tear down the walls between
us, make strong the ties that bind us, and help us to walk together with joy in all your ways;
through the grace of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

(1:04:03) HYMN - “This Is My Song”
This is my song, O God of all the nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine;
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.
My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine;
But other lands have sunlight too, and clover,
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine.
O hear my song, thou God of all the nations,
A song of peace for their land and for mine.
(1:06:08) BENEDICTION AND CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE
Lord, dismiss us with thy blessing, fill our hearts with joy and peace.
Let us each, thy love possessing, triumph in redeeming grace.
O refresh us, O refresh us, traveling through this wilderness.
