Which gauge wire should I use?
A. You can find floral wire stems at any major retailer (Amazon, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc.)
B. The lower the gauge number, the thicker and stronger the wire. A 10 gauge wire will be thicker and stronger than a 28 gauge wire.
C. 22 gauge wire and up can be used for real flowers as it does not completely puncture or destroy the stem and flower. You can use these types of wires to secure any add ons to your boutonniere (leaves, berries, brooches, etc.) Just make sure that your flower is securely fastened to a base (ex: a piece of 12 gauge wire) before addting any other details.
