Amavevane - Africa

We are a South African Acapella group which was formed in 1996, after losing 8-0 in a football match. Our coach suggested we give up football and try singing, and that's where Amavevane was born.

We have performed all over the world exposing our culture through songs. We have performed for the President of Zimbabwe at his birthday in Bulawayo in 1997. We went on tour to the UK and met her Majesty the Queen & the Royal Duke of Edinburgh and recently went on tour to Israel.

Have performed at the large city hall in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe at the National Traditional Music Competition and came in second place in the whole country. That was remarkable!

Appeared in a number of local TV channels in Zimbabwe in episodes like "The Showcase, Friday Live at Amakhosi, Miss Bulawayo Summer Strides" and many more including a number of wedding and private parties and corporate functions all over the country.

We have recorded only one full album, simply because all 9 of us have families to support and all have non-singing jobs. We have now been rehearsing and creating a brand new album which reflects our lives, stories, and joy.
